The Tuscaloosa By-Pass is a 5 mile undivided roadway connecting the cities of Northport and Coker to western Tuscaloosa.  Opened in 1998, the Tuscaloosa By-Pass connects US 82 and I-20/I-59, as well as Highway 171, 43, and 69N; and acts as a western bypass of the City of Tuscaloosa in addition to providing an alternate route for the western and northern communities to cross the Black Warrior River into Tuscaloosa.
